Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Heirloom App, Inc. for use of the Heirloom app.

Last updated 2 September 2026

In short: the app is yours to use. Your photographs remain entirely your own — we claim nothing. The app is provided as it is, and because everything is stored on your device, keeping your own backup is your responsibility.

Using Heirloom

Heirloom is provided by Heirloom App, Inc., a Delaware corporation. By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

You may use Heirloom for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reverse-engineer it, resell it, or use it to do anything unlawful.

Your content

Your photographs are yours. We claim no ownership, no licence, and no right to use them. We have no access to them — they never leave your device — so there is nothing for us to claim.

You are responsible for having the right to the photographs you keep in the app.

Deletion, and backups

Heirloom can permanently remove photographs from your device at your instruction. Deletion goes through Apple's standard process: photographs land in Recently Deleted and are recoverable there for 30 days, after which they are gone. iOS asks you to confirm each time.

Your Heirloom archive is stored inside the app on your device. If you delete the app, uninstall it, lose the device, or reset it, the archive goes with it. The app includes an export so you can keep your own copy, and we recommend using it. We cannot recover an archive for you, because we never had it.

Beta software

Heirloom is currently in private beta and distributed through Apple TestFlight. Beta software may contain defects and may change substantially. Do not rely on it as your only copy of anything you care about.

No warranty

Heirloom is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Heirloom App, Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data or photographs, arising out of your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app develops. Material changes will be posted here with a new date, and where it matters we'll say so in the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
